National Zero: A Group Exhibit by THE

FILIPINOS DO NOT HAVE A NATIONAL HERO. It’s sad and ‘revolting’ to think, but true.

Filipinos embraced and accepted the idea that Jose Rizal is the Philippines prime national hero but alas, Rizal still remains as an under-study, a recommendation amongst every heroes you can think of. This quandary will exist until the Philippine government proclaim them so.

To wit : No law, executive order or proclamation has been enacted or issued officially proclaiming any Filipino historical figure as a national hero. However, because of their significant roles in the process of nation building and contributions to history, there were laws enacted and proclamations issued honoring these heroes. The great Jose P. Rizal was proclaimed by the Americans , not by the Philippine Government, because Rizal was interpreted to represent peaceful political advocacy, unlike more radical people whose ideas could inspire resistance against American rule. Rizal was selected over the revolutionaries Andres Bonifacio, who was viewed as too radical, and Apolinario Mabini, who was considered unregenerate.
